Messages from Sean & Mel:
First things first: We are not wedding photographers.
We are artists who happen to primarily use photography as our medium of choice. We love and have always loved creativity.
I also consider myself lucky in that typically artistic people aren’t business people and vice versa. For Mel and myself, business and entrepreneurship are creative things and an art in and of themselves. I personally have an insatiable appetite to learn about new things–and when I get really intrigued about something, I learn all I possibly can about it. Mel is the one who then cracks the whip and makes the schedule to set all those new ideas into motion. We are always striving to improve our business and quality of life.
We are passionate about helping other people fulfill their potential. Nothing motivates me more than seeing and being around people with a desire to succeed. If you and I have every had a conversation where you’ve expressed anything about starting a business, leaving your job to go full time, etc. you already know this–as I’m sure we stayed out way too late talking about all the possibilities afterward.
I’m ridiculously excited and blessed to be a husband and a father. I’m not going to talk your ear off about “my kid did this” and “my kid did that”; but our 2 year old son is the cutest kid in the world–and even though you may think your kid is cuter, I’m pretty sure that’s not possible. We have a new baby daughter on the way–due next month–and I can’t wait to put ridiculous hats on her head with big flowers on them.
And remember a few paragraphs ago when I told you about learning new things and striving to always improve? Well, when we meet, remind me to tell you the story about how when I met Mel that I thought she would make the best wife, ever. Long story short, it took 4 years, but she finally agreed to date me . . . and 2 years after that, wedding time!
I was right. Best wife, ever.
Aside from spending time with my adorable kiddos and handsome husband, I can think of nothing I’d enjoy more than helping you succeed. Really. Ok maybe if we could help you achieve your dreams over chocolate I’d like that even more, but you get the idea. ;)
We are creatives, and wedding photography has been the medium we have applied ourselves to for the past 9 years. Over the course of our 8 years in business, we’ve come into our own with the way we approach photography, post-processing, sales, and the whole client-to-photographer experience. We’ve seen our industry change and have grown along with it.
If you’re reading this, you are likely in the photography industry as well, or are someone who aspires to be, so I don’t have to tell you that at one time or another it has been rewarding, challenging, joyful, frustrating, all-consuming, and fulfilling. There’s so much to wade through on both the photography side and the business side and if you’re feeling like it’s often hard to know where to start, I completely understand!
Sean and I have been so fortunate to be able to be a part of the wedding photography industry and be paid well to do it at the same time. The resources that have been made available to us over the years to help us get there have been incredible. We feel it’s only right that we give back and how cool is it that doing that can be just as fulfilling as the journey to achieving our own dreams was to begin with? That is the purpose of this site: to connect you–the person with questions and the drive to find answers, to us–the people who want to do everything in our power to give you those answers. We’re so glad you’re here. :)
