So it turns out that working photoshop with a laptop and its touchpad is pretty miserable so, due to just getting back in town, we’re pretty delayed with the blog posts.  We were so honored to be asked to join Marlena and Tim in Savannah last weekend for their wedding!  We’d never been to Savannah and I have to say, I am in love!  It’s such a gorgeous city with a rich culture and well-preserved history.  It’s the perfect setting for a wedding!  I’m excited to share more from their day at a later date.  Small weddings are so great because of their intimacy and these guys had the most precious families!  Marlena’s dad is the perfect father of the bride. :)   For now though, here’s one of our favorites from our favorite get-away car to date – the red, vintage Cadillac….

Marlena and Tim, you are beautiful!  Thank you for allowing us into your lives and trusting us with your memories!  See you soon!

p.s. Family session blog coming soon – just tell Sean to get with it!

I was reading Joe Photo’s blog this morning, and came across this story and thought it was worth sharing:

A son and his father were walking on the mountains.
Suddenly, the son falls, hurts himself and screams:
“AAAhhhhhhhhhhh!!!”
To his surprise, he hears the voice repeating,
somewhere in the mountain: “AAAhhhhhhhhhhh!!!”

Curious, he yells: “Who are you?”
He receives the answer: “Who are you?”

Angered at the response, he screams: “Coward!”
He receives the answer: “Coward!”

He looks to his father and asks: “What’s going on?”

The father smiles and says: “My son, pay attention.”

And then he screams to the mountain: “I admire you!”
The voice answers: “I admire you!”

Again the man screams: “You are a champion!”
The voice answers: “You are a champion!”

The boy is surprised, but does not understand.
Then the father explains: “People call this ECHO,
but really this is LIFE. It gives you back everything you say or do.
Our life is simply a reflection of our actions.

If you want more love in the world, create more love in your heart.
If you want more competence in your team, improve your competence.
This relationship applies to everything, in all aspects of life;

Life will give you back everything you have given to it.
Your life is not a coincidence. It’s a reflection of you!

I’m always inspired/pushed/provoked by stories & writing like this. I’ve often wanted to write and share similar things, but have yet to do it. I’ve been considering either starting a new blog or creating a separate section of this one where I can write/share this type of thing. In addition to that, we also get lots of emails from other photographers asking questions about how we do things, etc. I always try to get back with everyone as soon as I can, but as more emails come in, and as we get busier and busier, sometimes things slip through the cracks or it takes a long time to respond. Because of this, I’ve also been kicking around the idea of creating a blog for photographers. There are probably a few other things I’d like to write about as well, but I don’t necessarily think I should just start cramming it all on here!

I will eventually find an outlet for these things that I want to do at some point; but if I knew there were a lot of people interested right now, I would make it happen faster. So that brings me to the question: Are you interested?

Below, I’ve created the super easy, handy poll for you to use. It would also be helpful if you left a comment or sent me an email with things you might specifically be interested in, or not interested in. Depending upon the response, I will make something happen. It is up to YOU!

We had a great family lifestyle session on Tybee Beach this morning.  The sky was amazing, and we had about a zillion birds following us everywhere that made for some really great images.  Photos from the session to come… but in the meantime, check out this great action shot of Mel that I grabbed:

Shortly afterwards, one of me caught off guard.

Destination: Savannah, GA

11.15.2007 by Sean

Mel and I were talking the other day, and we realized that we don’t post nearly as much personal stuff on here as we would like. Also, there are a lot of things in between the shoots (even work related) we’re doing all the time that we take photos of, but never seem to get around to getting any of it on the blog–it’s a lot of fun to write about what we shoot all the time, but if this can become more of a journal for us at the same time, I think that would be really great to look back and be able to see more of what we were doing other than just what photo shoots we did :) So here’s the beginning of more to come!

We tried to leave for Savannah early today so that we would be driving mostly during the day time, but tons of things always come up that need to be taken care of last minute, and we ended up leaving right as the sun was going down, and drove the entire way here in complete darkness. 8 hours later at 1:00 in the morning, here we are!

We’ve never been to Savannah before, and we always hear how beautiful it is. Well now that we’re here, I can say firsthand that it’s all true. Here’s the fabulous view from the window of the historic hotel we’re staying in:

20071115-001.jpg

All kidding aside, from what we can see on the *other* side of the hotel, it does look like it is really great here. We’ll see for sure when the sun comes up… very shortly.

sean: It really is great here. Wish we had more time to check it out. Would loved to have gone around more today, but after our shoot, we walked around the historic district for a bit and were just too tired from all of our recent lack of rest to do anything else! (2007-11-15 18:22:25)

Last Saturday we were in Augusta Georgia for Rebecca and David’s wedding.  They were married at Saint James United Methodist Church with the reception following at The Richmond on Greene.  We were so lucky to have beautiful places and gorgeous people to work with! :)   David’s mom is from Columbia and their whole family has given us the renewed desire to pick up Salsa dancing!  We’ll see how our two white left feet do with that…ha!

David, Rebecca and family – thank you all for your warmth and kindness!  You made us feel so welcomed and appreciated and we really enjoyed spending the day with you!  Congratulations newlyweds! :)   See you soon!
