Just wanted to let everyone know that Sean and I are at a photography convention right now and we’ll be out of the office until January 10th. We’re learning lots and getting geared up for another great year with you wonderful people!
) We will be responding to all correspondence upon our return. Thank you so much for your patience while we’re out of town!
FYI–BEWARE! Our home is being guarded by wild jungle beasts!

You don’t want to mess with Dirtball!
- Mel
P.S. I know, I know- We’re bad kitty owners and Dirtball needs a good brushing.

mel: hahahaha! Matt I totally agree! When we got these guys all I could do is stare at them for the first several days. They're just strange creatures! Christina, Dirtball loves you too and we won't tell Kitten Hearts! ;) Jim, it's proper grooming that is overrated in my opinion - (obviously) - we could use a few more brains in Dirtballs head though!
(2008-02-13 01:27:59) DoDaDay: There R Thoz who brag about their
smart cats. I can tell you first hand
smart cats are overrated. I know
Dirtball personally and his personality far exceeds cats with
normal IQs, proper grooming, or special pedigree breeding!
(2008-01-11 23:03:45) Christina: I love Dirtball! He is the coolest cat I've ever met!!!! (besides the Jones' K-Hearts....) (2008-01-09 13:40:06)
Matt B: I have one word for Dirtball... "dangle"
I'm not even sure Persians are even cats. Every one I've met looks like anything BUT one of God's creatures. I will say that DB is the nicest Persian I've met, by far.
(2008-01-07 17:23:00) K. Crafton: You can buy both.....let's say two dollars for the pair? :)
(2008-01-07 17:07:42) bradford: I miss that lil' guy!! (2008-01-06 19:53:42)
Mel: Aw! Everyone should know that Kate Crafton has the cutest kids on the face of the planet! If Sean and I don't have cute ones, we're just going to buy Kate's! :o) Dennis - he is the ragdoll kitty from hell - yes it's true. Actually he's a persian but no less from hell...and no, we're not entirely certain he's a cat - he looks a little more like an ewok from Star Wars in my opinion. Jacqulyn, you would think so! ;o) David, you're a mess! :o) (2008-01-06 18:29:51)
Jacqulyn Jones: He is a beautiful creature! (2008-01-05 21:45:59)
Jeremy: wow! Are you sure that's a cat? (2008-01-05 13:51:14)
Dennis Bullock: Oh my gosh.....is that the ragdoll kitty form hell?
(2008-01-05 13:14:19) K. Crafton: Have fun at the convention!
(any time you ask baby girl who Melanie's cat is she says, "DWIRT-BAWL!" LOL! )

I love this image because I feel it sums up Jenn and Charlie as much as any one image can - they have an amazing warmth about them and they love to laugh! We were so happy to have the opportunity to share their wedding day with them this past weekend. You will never meet two funnier people and their friends and family are just amazing. What a great way to end the year!
)

Jenn and Charlie, thank you so much for allowing us into your world! We wish you many, many years of happiness and laughter together!
Happy New Year’s Eve Everyone!!

(2008-01-03 15:44:32) Bradford: ... I thoroughly enjoyed a McLellan Workshop myself. Especially the part where my head exploded from so much information. I practically don't even need to go to the DWF Convention now... (2008-01-02 13:21:27)
david&kimi baxter: wait a minute, wait ONE flippin minute. mclellan workshop???!! one on one????? where can i find this....workshop you speak of? :P... that's drool btw.

sean: Hansel. He is *so* hot right now. Had to say it, had to say it.
Thank you for the comments, though!!
(2007-12-31 23:15:59) mel: Hey Carmen! Thanks so much! We love hearing from new people - and old ones too so stop by often! ;o) David, you guys are great! We always look forward to your uplifting comments! We'll miss you guys in Tampa! Hansel, thank you! We really appreciate it! As for workshop plans, we like the idea of extremely small groups so that we can tailor the experience to what your needs are. I think for now, we would love to just do a few with single studios at a time in order to really focus on individuals. Of course, depending upon the amount of interest, we would be open to the idea of a larger setting. Really, we'd just love to hear your ideas and what you're looking for! If anyone is interested in something like this, shoot us an email!
(2007-12-31 22:56:23) Hansel Dobbs: Aweseome photo! I love your work and can't wait to hear details about your workshop plans.
(2007-12-31 18:51:34) david&kimi baxter: ah can't wait to see what the infamous mclellan's have for us in 2008! you guys are awesome. much blessings to you guys and your business in the coming year!! have a safe and happy one!
(2007-12-31 17:08:17) Carmen: I just wanted to say that I love your work!!!! New fan here.
Happy New Year!!!
Any workshops on the way? ;) (2007-12-31 13:10:00)
Best friends are hard to find and they’re even harder to keep close when you rarely see each other. If you’re lucky, you have people in your life who you can be absent from for months and then pick right back up like it was yesterday when you meet again. Sharon is that friend for me. We met when we were in the 10th grade and through going to different colleges and living in different cities, we’ve always picked right back up where we left off no matter how long it’s been. She is now getting ready to have her first baby and we simply can’t wait!
If you’ve sent an email to me over the past week, you would have gotten an auto-responder that said we were taking time off to spend with family and friends – it was a lie – we’ve been working nearly the whole time but at least I did have a work-related excuse to see my beautiful friend!

Brian says I made Sharon’s stomach look like a planet in this one. I believe in bigger than life!

This is currently Sharon’s view of the world…

Sharon is from Nolensville and after seeing this building on a friend’s Christmas card, I had to go find it! Look familiar Joy?

These guys are going to make great parents!

By the way, were you wondering what Baby Girl’s name is going to be?

Brian swears it has nothing to do with his Bulldogs obsession!

And last but not least…due to time constraints, we decided to forego the traditional Christmas decor extravaganza and got a tiny metallic purple, pre-lit tree instead. Since I didn’t get to decorate a tree, Sharon let me decorate her! Yeah, she loves me.

Sharon, I love you dearly! I’m so excited for Georgia to get here and thank you for letting me document your pregnancy in my own crazy way! Hope you enjoy them! See you soon!

The last one was my "play" image and I really wasn't completely sure that it was going to come together but now I think it's one of my favorites. Thanks so much for commenting guys!

When I talk about Ryan, I refer to him as my little brother. Not my brother but my little brother. That’s who he is to me and maybe that’s just how it will always be! That’s why it’s so incredibly weird that he’s old enough to be engaged! I have to say though, he couldn’t have picked a better girl to marry and play house with next October. Welcome to our crazy family Cari.
We took these kids out for their engagement session on probably the coldest, wettest day we could manage. The rain started coming down pretty steady when we got a little way down the trail in the park. What luck! Fortunately, they look pretty good as drowned rats!
Our poor cameras on the other hand, they looked kind of pitiful…

After getting completely soaked, we escaped to the warm inside of the Factory. So much better…

It’s so much more comfortable to go outside at this time of year when you know you can go right back in!

I think this is my favorite…

You know, I am a very cool big sister – I didn’t get wierded out at all photographing my little brother making out with his fiancee. ha!

The purpose of the last clothing change was to show absolute personality and personal style. Really it’s just to give their kids something to make fun of.

Ryan and Cari, thank you for letting us take part in this exciting time! We had a great time hanging out with you guys! :) See you soon…
Love,
Mel and Sean

mel: Thanks Ali! Yea they actually did although I was starting to wonder during the last part of our shoot. I was getting messages on one of our cameras about there not being a good connection between the lense and the body but they went away and now everything seems to work great again - phew!
(2007-12-28 15:07:25) Ali: Great shots! Did your lens survive all that moisture okay?
(2007-12-28 12:16:57) mel: Thanks Kate! Hope you're having a great time in Okie! Merry Christmas to you too!

(2007-12-23 17:34:09) Cari: Question...is it legal for me to steal the Christmas tree photo and make it my photo on facebook? haha I think it should be shared! (2007-12-23 12:53:00)
Eddie Bojorquez (Studio 512): The Christmas tree one is unbelievable. I don't know how you could've possibly made it any better! Congrats to them.

(2007-12-23 07:53:27) K. Crafton: The last two shots are my favorite.....great light and so fun!
Merry Christmas guys! :)
(2007-12-22 10:07:17) sean: oooooh, sooorry Brad. Mel2 has intervened, and I must deduct 1.5 right-on points from your score today.
(2007-12-21 20:05:40) Mel Watson: drowned rats are all the rage this season... well done my cutting edge friends! Looks like you guys had fun! Cold, wet and everything. Sean... dont give Brad any more points... its starting to go to his head! (2007-12-21 17:16:17)
sean: ding ding ding, B-Rad wins 2 1/3 right-on points!
(2007-12-21 16:06:36) Bradford: ... this may be a false observation... but I do believe Cari has on those flat 3-D glasses that you get before going on 3-D rides and stuff. Reminds me of Shrek 4-D @ Universal Studios Florida. (2007-12-21 15:49:16)
sean: mmm frisky berry
(2007-12-21 15:24:29) Ryan: Great job, they all look awesome! Thanks so much for freezing with us in the rain and meandering through the factory. I hope you're both frisky berry addicts now. Cari and I both had a lot of fun. Merry Christmas! (2007-12-21 14:27:02)
sean: david&kimi -- thank you, thank you! B-Rad - You are a crazy person. I like it. Cari - Thank you so much--we had a great time with you guys... and just wait until we show you the *really* good ones!
(2007-12-21 13:44:07) Bradford: You know... looking at this last picture... ordinarily my first instinct... is that I would be concerned about their well-being. When I say "their", I would be referring to the precious... pre-engineered wood I-joists of which Ryan and Cari are hanging from. I would wonder, what impact a 150 lb concentrated load would have applied to the bottom flange of such member... and if the horizontal shear strength between the glued web and flange would be sufficient. But... no... as my left brain and right brain battled each other, my first reaction was actually more like, "What an awesome photograph... I want to do that!" So... thanks... now I know I'm officially transitioned from my weekday job to my all-other-time job. Great photos guys!! (2007-12-21 13:13:58)
Cari: You guys are amazing. I LOVE the last three, but they're all great. We had a lot of fun with you guys. I can't wait to see the rest of them! Thanks again! (2007-12-21 12:41:00)
david&kimi baxter: ummm...how lucky are they to be related to the two hottest arteeests this side of the world! awesome shots....again!
