Baby Shower Time!

10.21.2008 by Mel

This past weekend was so much fun!  We shot our last wedding before the little man’s arrival and then spent the rest of the time with my college girlfriends, topping off festivities with our first baby shower.  This shower was especially great because my friend Missy is 12 days behind me in her own pregnancy and we got to have our shower together.  I’m not terribly fond of being the total center of attention so sharing center stage for baby gift opening was fantastic and Missy and Josh are having a girl so we got to see the pink version of everything too! :o )

My dear friend Opal manned the camera for me so that I didn’t have to be on photo duty – thanks Op!

You know what I love best about baby games at my own shower?  That I don’t have to play them! :o

shower4.jpg

That’s right – your only participation in shower games at your own shower is rediculing everyone else’s attempts to draw babies on top of their heads.

Two pregnant ladies back to back = a TON of string!

Cheese much?

While we were all together, Kristin announced that she’s expecting in May!  YAY!!  Congratulations to Kristin and Rickey!

shower9.jpg

Reverting to college days.  I would imagine this will be embarassing to our children when we’re 60 and still carrying on this way. :o )

shower61.jpg

Jennifer and Diana – your kids are going to be especially embarassed! ;o)

shower7.jpg

A HUGE thank you to you all!  You are too good to us and we love you!!

shower5.jpg

Wellington and Dirtball say thank you too for the great bags and tissue paper to play in.  In these final good days of their life before a little creature moves in to terrorize them 24-7, play things are always welcome. :o )

Last week we spent a couple of days in Chattanooga with an amazing group of people.  We were flattered to be asked by Garrett and Joy Nudd to speak at their workshop, Elevate, and it was a wonderful first experience in the speaking realm!  Rather than getting images ready myself, I told Garrett that he should really hurry up and get his blog post done so that I could rip off his images for my own post.  Do you know that he was kind enough to oblige?  Thanks Garrett!  :o )  And thank you to all of you who came to the workshop!  We were honored to get to spend time with you all and hope you were able to take something of value away from our little chat.

Here are a few images supplied by Garrett Nudd Photography

Here’s Sean in action at the live shoot.  Do you think he carries enough on him?  I’ll try to get him to post a few images from the shoot but feel free to harass him for them as well. :o )

Not sure exactly what either of us are doing here with our faces but here’s a quick shot from our talk on Morning 2…

Melanie Watson: Oh Thank God!!! My whole perception of Sean was severely altered for most of the day. Life as I once knew it can now resume. As for the pirate sword... I initially thought it was some sort of whip... but I wasn't about to question it. Apparently my vision is quite skewed today. (2008-10-20 20:40:54)
Sean: "It's somebody else's fault." So says the girl wielding the pirate sword. (2008-10-20 17:28:58)
mel: That would be Garrett and Sean's fault. They can't let the pirate thing go! (2008-10-20 14:31:58)
Sean: Not Dasani in my bag--but that IS a pirate sword in Mel's hand (2008-10-20 14:20:39)
mel: Thanks Brandy! You and Sticky are too cute and we always enjoy hanging out with you two! Look us up the next time you're down this way! Hehe - Mel - Take heart! That is still Sam's in Sean's bag. Joy and Garrett got Fiji for everyone but he didn't drink it! ;o) (2008-10-20 12:16:40)
Melanie Watson: Have my eyes deceived me?!?! Is that a Dasani water in Sean's Boda Bag?!!!?? Has he betrayed is loyalty to Sam's Choice? I'm flabbergasted! *regains composure* So yeah... looks like you guys had fun... *still regaining composure* Mel, you and Joy are so cute all preggo together! Sean looks like a camera Christmas tree in the first shot. It suits him. ;) (2008-10-20 10:41:44)
brandy j: It was so great to see you guys! We definitely took away a lot from your discussion. You guys are so unique and we love that! Best wishes on the December delivery! Cannot wait to see the little guy! (2008-10-20 07:43:32)

I love when couples really personalize the wedding celebration to their own tastes.  Courtney and Jim did exactly that.  They made their own home brew for a cocktail hour they shared with guests before the ceremony, they had couples married for varying lengths stand up and give them advice during the ceremony, Courtney wore a gorgeous tea-length dress, and they topped the whole thing off with pies in place of the traditional cake!  Neverland Farms was the perfect setting for their laid-back family event!

The sun cast amazing golden light on the couple during the ceremony…
